Highland
Looking out and I'm
wondering where I am
While I'm stuck in
the daily traffic jam
I decide to get out
and leave the world behind me
Everywhere there are
people passing by
Empty faces and not
a friendly smile
Under stress,
loneliness, a part of our city
Now I finally have
decided
I will leave it all
behind
And discover
something better
And l know where I
will find
Find a place of
harmony, of laughter and of dreams
It you want me, that
is where I'll be
I'll be waiting on
the Highland
With its wonderful
serenity
Where the stars glow
and the brooks flow
That's my way of life
When the mountains
on the Highland
And the nature is
surrounding me
When the wind blows
That's all I need,
all I need
On the highland when
I was a child
I would play with my
friends and we were wild
And we all loved the
moors, the nature and it's freedom
And we went for
ghost hunt in the mist
I remember the first
time I got kissed
By the shy neighbour
guy, who whispered "be my girlfriend"
But I longed for
some excitement
So l travelled
'round the world
After that I settled
down and
I became a city girl
Went to parties
every night and lived intensively
Now I know it's not
a life for me
I'll be waiting on
the Highland
With it's wonderful
serenity
Where the stars glow
and the brooks flow
That's my way of life
When the mountains
on the Highland
And the nature is
surrounding me
When the wind blows
That's all I need
On the Highland, on
the Highland, you will see
Oh my darling, I
would hate to leave it without you
I'm sure you love
the highland too
If you join me I can
promise
You'll stay until
eternity
I'll be waiting on
the Highland
With it's wonderful
serenity
Where the stars glow
and the brooks flow
That's my way of life
When the mountains
on the Highland
And the nature is
surrounding me
When the wind blows
That's all I need
On the Highland

Vagabond
(make a princess of me)
There's been many a crooked path
That has ended me
here
Tired, broken and
wearing rags
Wild eyed with fear
There's much more to
this vagabond
Than the eye can see
You can see me
through different eyes
Make a princess of me
Door to door with
her heavy heart
Try to stave off the
cold
In the distance a
gypsy cart
Filled with thieves
and rogues
There's much more to
this vagabond
Than the eye can see
You can see me
through different eyes
Make a princess of me
Sing for supper and
sing for pence
A song's all I have
to give
With a fiddle and
with no rest
Singing only to live
There's much more to
this vagabond
Than the eye can see
You can see me
through different eyes
Make a princess of me
Through the window a
golden glow
Families gather round
Here outside it
starts to snow
Silence the only
sound
There's much more to
this vagabond
Than the eye can see
You can see me
through different eyes
Make a princess of me
All can see me
through different eyes
make a princess of me
Journeyman (Vandaren)
Many years I've been
away from home
I have faced too
many battles
Hours here upon the
endless road
Have left me bruised
and battered
I have heard the
secrets of the streets,
But I keep them to
myself
On display, but here
inside my soul
Like a trophy on a
shelf
Hand upon my heart I
know
The moon will light
my way
Ohh my friend, the
winding road
Will the life of a
journeyman never change?
'Round a corner,
down a narrow trail,
My boots are wearing
thin
I can feel the heat
upon my back
The sun against my
skin
Far away I could
have sworn I heard
The ringing of a bell
Through the miles
you know it's hard to tell
When it's you
against yourself
Hand upon my heart I
know
The moon will light
my way
Ohh my friend, the
winding road
Will the life of a
journeyman never change?
None of us will ever
know
What lies around the
bend
All the world
becomes your home
On a road that never
ends
Hand upon my heart I
know
The moon will light
my way
Ohh my friend, the
winding road
Will the life of a
journeyman never change?
Hand upon my heart I
know
The moon will light
my way
Ohh my friend, the
winding road
Will the life of a
journeyman never change?
Believe In Me
It's a reflection that you see in me
But I know it's not reality
Beneath the glitter and behind all the lace
Do you see my face?
I'll be the mirror, the spaces in between
It's not the truth, it's just a dream
I guess we all have to believe in something
In anything
Do you love me just the way I am?
Do you need me? Will you take a chance?
Do you see me for all that I can be
Do you believe, believe in me?
Sometimes you need to be lost just to be found
You need to go to come back around
You need to set somebody free for them to return
You live and learn
I've heard it said that true love is blind
All this is just a state of mind
If you're not looking you will never find
You'll be left behind
Do you love me just the way I am?
Do you need me? Will you take my hand?
Maybe you'll see through the mystery
Do you believe--
Do you love me just the way I am?
Do you need me? Will you take a chance?
Maybe you'll see all that I can be
Do you believe, believe in me?
Sake of The Song
The moon must be an
angel, her halo surely heaven sent
Watching from above
should the bells forget to ring
And we but lonely
travelers, following a ray of light
All become the same
when we begin to sing
Round and round we
all go
Where we stop nobody
knows
Heaven meets on the
earth
For the sake of the
song--For the sake of the song
Could you ever fly
without the fear of falling?
Does the night bird
cease just because it's dawn?
Could a candle burn
with any less resilience?
Should we never love
for the fear that it may fade?
Could you ever be
just for the sake of being?
Could a melody ever
be wrong?
Could you ever sing
just for the sake of singing?
Set your spirit free
for the sake of the song---
Round and round we
all go
Where we stop nobody
knows
Heaven meets on the
earth
For the sake of the
song-
For the sake of the
song
Celluloid Heroes
Everybody’s a
dreamer and everybody’s a star
And everybody’s in
movies it doesn’t matter who you are
There are stars in
every city in every house and on every street
And if you walk down
Hollywood Boulevard their names are written in concrete
Don’t step on Greta
Garbo as you walk down the boulevard
She looks so weak
and fragile that’s why she tried to be so hard
But they turned her
into a princess and they sat her on a throne
But she turned her
back on stardom because she wanted to be alone
Ref: You can see all
the stars as you walk down Hollywood Boulevard
Some that you
recognise some that you’ve hardly even heard of
People who worked
and suffered and struggled for fame
Some who succeeded
and some who suffered in vain
If you covered him
with garbage George Sanders would still have style
And if you stamped
on Mickey Rooney he would still turn round and smile
But don’t tread on
dearest Marilyn ’cos she’s not very tough
She should have been
made of iron or steel but she was only flesh and blood
Ref: You can see all
the stars as you walk down Hollywood Boulevard
Some that you
recognise some that you’ve hardly even heard of
People who worked
and suffered and struggled for fame
Some who succeeded
and some who suffered in vain (2x)
Rudolph Valentino
looks very much alive
And he looks up
ladies’ dresses as they sadly pass him by
Avoid stepping on
Bela Lugosi ’cause he’s liable to turn and bite
But stand close by
Bette Davis because hers was such a lonely life
I wish my life was a
non stop hollywood movie show
A fantasy world of
celluloid villains and heroes
Because celluloid
heroes never feel any pain
And celluloid heroes
never really die.
Everybody’s a
dreamer and everybody’s a star
And everybody’s in
show biz it doesn’t matter who you are
And those who are
successful be always on your guard,
Success walks hand
in hand with failure along Hollywood Boulevard.
Keeper Of The Flame
Once
was a legend of old
In the time of days long ago
The clattering beat of a horse on the street
He appeared from the fog like a ghost
I could feel him heading this way
A storm was filling the air
If the truth be told, when the winds blow cold
They are warning you to beware
No, the wild cannot be tamed
Keeper of the flame
We wondered what devil is this
Who appears from out of the mist
With a crack of a whip, and a wave of his fist
He was cursed and I was bewitched
Haunted by seeing his face
Through the mirror the smoke and the haze
So hard to see, through the dark mystery
The illusion was part of the game
Be careful of what you wish for
And make sure when it knocks at your door
It's what you need, not some fantasy
That will haunt you forever more
Let it be what you need, not some fantasy
That will haunt you forever more
Strawberry Girl
Through
the long days of summer
Where the air was as sweet as perfume
We walked through the golden meadows
And danced by the light of the moon
She was a lonely angel
Sitting there by the side of the road
On the edge of the forest
That's where the wild things grow
And blue skies of promise opened before us
There in her eyes are the dreams of the world
Blue skies of promise rained down upon us
Life is so sweet with a strawberry girl
In her hand was a basket
Sticks and branches were woven as one
She smiled bright like a child
Bright as the afternoon sun
And
blue skies...
It
was filled with her treasures
A whole cradle of nature's bounty
Wild flowers were chosen
To lay amongst the forest berries
"It's
a great day for a gatherer
You can say that I
told you so
In these uncertain
days
It's the simple
things you need the most"
And blue skies...
All The Fun Of The
Fair
In and out of a
thousand stories
Here I stand
somewhere in between
Kings and queens
knights and glory
Flash before my eyes
unseen
Laughing and loving
and living for summer
Dancing romancing
the moon like a lover
Secrets and
mysteries kept undercover
All in the fun of
the faire
I have entered
through the gates
To see the queen in
her finery
Playing chess with
the king of spades
It's all part of the
fantasy
Painted ladies with
haunted eyes
Dance for you as
they hypnotize
I can feel your
heart beat faster
When the gypsy
becomes your master
I see you but you're
not the same
The eye can see what
it wants to see
Through the veil
anything can change
You can be what you
want to be
Darkness
Once
upon a dark autumn night
I was so very far from sleep
I longed to walk beneath the stars
Into the wood so dark and deep-
Neither myth nor fairy tale
could keep me from the path to the maze
But eyes upon me I could feel
Hidden in the shadows watching always-
Something in the darkness pulled me deeper
Something in the madness eased my mind
Was I awake or was I dreaming
Cut the strings that bind me to mankind-
Once
while I was sitting in my room
One cold and silver winter's day
I could hear another worldly call
try as I might I could'nt turn away-
Something in the darkness...
Somewhere
in between the moss and the stone
The wind and the wood became my home
I layed myself down upon the green
when the ivy overgrew I could never leave
Health
To The Company
Kind friends and companions, come join me in
rhyme
Come lift up your voices in chorus with mine
Let us drink and be merry all grief to refrain
For we may or might never meet here again
Here's a health to the company and one to my lass
Let us drink and be merry all out of one glass
Let us drink and be merry all grief to refrain
For we may or might never meet here again
Our ship lies at harbour she's ready to dock
I wish her safe landing without any shock
And if we should meet again by land or by sea
I will always remember your kindness to me
My footsteps may falter my wit it may fail
My course may be challenged by November gale
Ere fortune shall prove to be friend or be foe
You will always be with me wherever I go
Barbara
Allen
Twas in the merry month of May
When green buds all were swelling
Sweet William on his death bed lay
For love of Barbara Allen
He sent his servant unto her
To the place where she was dwelling
Saying you must come to his bedside now,
If your name be Barbara Allen
So slowly slowly she got up
And slowly she drew nigh him
And the only words to him did say
"Young man I think you're dying"
As she walked slowly o'er the field
She heard the death bells knelling
And with every stroke it seemed to say
Hard hearted Barbara Allen
Oh mother, oh mother make my bed
Make it both long and narrow
Sweet William died for me today
I will die for him tomorrow
They buried her in the old churchyard
They buried him beside her
And from his grave grew a red red rose
And from her grave a green briar
